A Safe Place Family Justice Center is looking for individuals to fill the role of Volunteer at Camp HOPE Oregon. Camp HOPE Oregon is a week-long camp experience for children and youth who have experienced domestic violence. During the summer of 2017, Camp HOPE will hold 2 sessions of camp. Session 1 will be for ages 7-11 and Session 2 will be for ages 12-15. We are searching for dedicated individuals to be positive role models and build relationships with our campers, as well as assist in creating a safe space for the campers to have fun!

Responsibilities of a Volunteer at Camp HOPE Oregon:
  • Attend volunteer orientation night prior to camp (provided by A Safe Place staff)
  • Assist with set up and take down of activities and events
  • Engage campers during scheduled shifts, (eg. staff and assistant counselor breaks, pool time, etc.)
  • Work with camp counselors and staff to make sure campers are safe and supported
  • Model healthy boundaries with campers and staff
  • Create a fun, enthusiastic atmosphere for youth
  • Encourage youth-involvement in activities and events
  • Utilize healthy relationship skills, such as clear communication or boundary setting, to build positive rapport with youth
Qualifications
  • 18 years or older
  • Experience working with youth, ages 7-15
  • Able to pass background check
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) encouraged to apply
  • Past camp experience a plus
  • Transportation to and from Mt. Hood
