Items CWS Cannot Accept

CWS has enacted a policy to no longer accept used furniture or used clothing.

We have made this change so we can partner with organizations who specialize in clothing and furniture donations, which helps our staff increase their ability to directly serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

FURNITURE

Because we do not have the capacity to maintain enough furnishings to meet the needs of our participants we partner with Community Warehouse. This organization specializes in collecting, reconditioning and storing furniture and household items for social service agencies who serve individuals and families in need.

Our partnership with Community Warehouse allows us to take our participants to pick out the items they need when they are rebuilding their homes. Donating your household items to Community Warehouse directly benefits CWS and our participants, as well as other organizations in our community. Community Warehouse will pick up your items for a small fee. Please contact Community Warehouse directly at one of their two locations:

CLOTHING

CWS is very well supplied with clothing. In fact, we are generally overstocked.

We do, however regularly accept the following items:

  • New underwear and bras for women (all sizes)
  • New underwear for children and teens (all ages/sizes, boys and girls)
  • New socks and shoes for children and teens (boys and girls, all sizes)
  • New pajamas for women (all sizes)
  • New pajamas for children and teens (all ages/sizes, boys and girls)

For other items we would like to suggest that you donate your clothing to the Kiwanis Thrift Store in Canby with whom we have a reciprocal relationship. We encourage donors to send clothing and small household items to their store, and they give us vouchers for our participants. It is a great relationship!
