Volunteering at Clackamas Women's ServicesThank you for your interest in volunteering for Clackamas Women's Services! Volunteers are very valuable to our organization and work in all of our programs and in our administrative/outreach office. Direct Service Volunteer Opportunities: Anyone wanting to volunteer in direct services to women and children is required to complete our Volunteer Training. The training covers Clackamas Women's Services' philosophy and approach to working with women and children who are surviving domestic and sexual violence. Volunteer training sessions are offered several times throughout the year. Each session encompasses approximately 36-40 hours of training spread out over several evenings and weekend dates. Crisis Line & Emergency Shelter: Volunteers provide support to adult and child residents, answer the crisis line, complete phone screens and intakes, and ensure the safe and consistent functioning of shelter. Children's Program: Volunteers spend time with children in play and educational activities. Volunteers may also conduct children's intakes. Transitional Program: Volunteers provide on-going support, information, and resources to families who have left shelter and are participating in our transitional program. Community Educator: Outreach advocates provide drop-in services including information, referrals, support, and advocacy to women and children in the community. Public speaker volunteers present educational programs to community groups, schools, businesses and religious groups about domestic violence and CWS services. Support Group Facilitator: Volunteers co-facilitate weekly, two-hour domestic violence support groups for women in Clackamas County. Legal Advocacy Program: Volunteers will work at the Victims Assistance office and Courthouse in Oregon City to support and advocate for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence as they go through the legal system. Other Volunteer Opportunities with CWS: In addition to volunteering directly with survivors of family violence, volunteers also help the organization in other ways. Different (usually shorter time commitment) training requirements apply for these volunteer positions. IT: Volunteer provide assistance with computers (hardware, software, or both), servers, networks, email, Microsoft programs, wiring, personal and business sized printers etc. Administrative: Volunteers provide clerical assistance, data input and computer work in the outreach office and help in the publication and distribution of mailings. Facilities and Donations: Volunteers assist with house maintenance and sorting and distributing donations. Fundraising: Volunteers stuff appeal letters, help plan special events, and approach individuals and corporations for contributions. Board of Directors: Board members set overall policy for the organization, oversee finances, lead fundraising efforts and help promote the organization.
