Camp HOPE America – Oregon

Pathways to HOPE Program

The Pathways to HOPE Program is a year-round mentoring and community-building program. It serves to help youth and their families build connections through events and celebrations such as pool parties, trips to the pumpkin patch, holiday celebrations, and bowling.

Camp HOPE America – Oregon

Camp HOPE is a summer camp for children and youth whose families are receiving support through A Safe Place Family Justice Center and builds bridges for participants to connect with nature, themselves, and their community. While on-site, youth participate in an array of camp activities including skits and camp songs, arts and crafts, water activities such as kayaking and rafting, ropes courses, and horseback riding. Youth also engage in curriculum and discussion that promotes healing and connection.

Each year, Camp HOPE Oregon is made possible through the efforts of our entire community. From community partners who provide adventures for our campers, to donors and financial supporters, to youth camp counselor volunteers, to adult support staff, an enthusiastic community provides this amazing experience for youth impacted by violence.

It takes just one caring adult in the life of a child to create a pathway to HOPE.

Hope & Resiliency

Originally developed by Alliance for Hope International, Camp HOPE was designed to help increase confidence, resiliency, and hope for children and youth impacted by violence. According to the groundbreaking ACEs study, children who directly or indirectly experience any form of abuse (physical, sexual, or emotional) or other childhood adversities are at an increased risk for certain lasting impacts, such as chronic health conditions and various social/emotional challenges (Felitti et al., 1998). Children served by Camp HOPE programs have experienced higher rates of childhood adversity than is represented by the CDC national average (Featherngill & Hellman, 2018). Camp strives to build resiliency and protective factors for these incredible campers.
